Three Poems

4_16_1998

The sun hides in grey clouds of sky.
The moon peeks past darken clouds of night.
Streetlights shine through tree’s overhanging leaves.
A candle flickers to the whim of invisible winds.
It is regret that burns bright.

Trains follow ordained tracks.
Cars tire themselves on endless roads.
Hikers walk beaten paths.
Skiers follow slippery slopes.
Memories can stop seasoned travelers.

Rivers run to the sea.
A mountain can not touch the sky.
A valley’ ends in depth.
Stars shine from a glowing past.
Life leads to its own ending.

Faith favors the chosen.
Prayers plead for the few.
Charity chases wealth.
Miracles mimic wishes that come true.

Only hope is left for us all.

Everlast

I gave my time to a company
that paid me by the hour.
Sold my father’s watch
to pay for another month.
A candle is lit every day,
the flame always burns to smoke.
The sun rose this morning,
the dark will come when it is gone.
I held the hand of a child
while walking in a park.
Told someone I loved them
with everything in my heart.
The smiles they gave me
are the only things I have
that will ever last.

Voice Whispering A Name

Sun on grass,
wind touching leaves,
taste of spring in winter air.
Stars at night,
troubled rain no longer falling
on the end of a hot day.
Laughter in eyes,
a letter to be opened,
a glass glittering with a new day dew.
All those things,
so many more,
all reminding of why
the sky is blue.
