Another Way Home
Welcome! We are off and running with our September Rainbow Poems!
To kick things off, we are delighted to bring you fresh work from the pen of Brendan Hawthorne.
Brendan is an experienced poet and is Wednesbury’s current Poet Laureate. There is such comfort in this writing. It makes the reader believe that we will reach the other side of the current storm. Thank you, Brendan, for allowing us to include this as a Rainbow Poem.

Another Way Home
Each tear drop
contains an ocean of thought
where storm waves roll
churning over
and over again all life’s
what if’s and maybe’s
It’s crystal salinity
is transparent in
composition
Its chiselled
facets are shaped into
bitter sweet
pear drops
that turn sour
on howling winds
of self torment
It’s time to
find peace
Beauty in life
Draw from the wells
that spring
from the corners
of mind’s eyes
Let them
form fair weather
mood clouds
in that troubled head
Learn to smile
through the rain
Let sunlight in
even if
for only a moment
and watch those
rainbows rise
above the cosmic
treasure chests
of moons and stars
where hopes and dreams
await a seeker
searching for truth
and a way back home
