Three Works On Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day

War is a vile act to be propelled into, especially by men who have never taken part in the fighting. As an ex infantry soldier and sufferer of PTSD, I strongly believe we should all remember the dead and those still suffering, not only in world wars, there are wars that rage on each year. We should widen our perspective on the casualties of war, deaths from war include civilian mortality from indirect fire and worst of all the famine and poverty that follows. We should all remember that war makes the elites richer, i.e those sending us on our way. Remember, wars rarely change anything. Remember, war makes profit. Remember, love, kindness and promoting a virtuous way of life would minimize war and its impacts.

Poppies From The Valley

Poppy heads full of life, seeds made of dreams,
Diversity of hue vortex one’s mind.
Grow in my heart, your roots run through my streams,
Water's flow never ends as you are kind.
A quilt of pure magnificence you knit,
Face of many angels, warmth you reside.
My core candles before you, were unlit.
Flower of flowers you always provide.

You will always grow in my garden soul,
Perpetual life you provide the world.
Shattered petals scattered hearts; you make whole.
If you are walked upon, more seeds, be hurled.
Whilst the earth's crust exists, life comes and goes.
Whilst red runs through you, I’ll attend the shows.

Remember Wrong, Forget Pain

Please forget when bombs precipitated from the sky,
Don’t forget the past died with the innocent lives.
World wars tore spirits apart by both enemy and allies,
A game to the rule makers, consequences for the working class.
Saline drips dry on our faces as we cry.

Please forget when Enfield and Kar seasoned people,
Don’t forget past wrongs until we put them right.
Global conflict still rages no lessons learnt.
Perpetual battles create unrealistic peaks,
The unjust never-ending steeple.

Please forget the famine created from the powers fight for more,
Don’t forget we peasants fight them, and only stop when told.
People die every year, fighting for nothing,
Hope grows, one year it will be none.
Do something by doing nothing maybe that will reduce war.

Remember, Remember, Remember,
Living in peace eradicates war.
