2021 / ISSUE 3
Hello, dear Rainbow Poems family,
This month, as I reviewed the poems I’ve selected for your March edition, I was struck by one thing over all else. It was an amazingly precise feeling, so strong that I could feel it against my skin: a deep longing, a melancholy, charged with sharp pinpricks of light. Here in Germany, it is sometimes called Sehnsucht (“an inconsolable longing of the human heart for we know not what”).
Let’s all try our best to focus on those small moments of hope, of joy, that we stumble across. Better yet, let’s make a positive decision to share our hopeful, joyous moments with friends, family and our communities. Cherish the person, the creature, the landscape, the sky, the voice at the end of a phone line, that has given you that feeling. This is hope speaking to you.
If you’ve been inspired by such a moment, why not write your own poem about it? I would love to read them and feature them in an upcoming edition.
Last but not least, I would like to send especial thanks to our poets this month for their patience. It has been an uphill struggle to get this issue ready in testing personal circumstances. You are all part of the Rainbow Poems family and it is a privilege to be a part of bringing your words out into the world.
All the best,
Lucy
